Homemaker: Clear the Clutter

Homemaker: Clear the Clutter

So, I am getting ready for a move in March...sigh.

The only thing about this move that I am looking forward to, is getting rid of clutter. I am downsizing a bit, so I need to get rid of stuff.  If I haven't worn it in a long time, it needs to go. If I haven't used it in a long time...bye bye.

I have noticed how much clearer my mind feels since I have started getting rid of the clutter. "To have a place for everything, and everything in its place"...It will feel great. I have purchased a few items to help me organize my new closet (my closet has been in a hallway - long story). I love when keepsake boxes and baskets match; it is easier on the eyes, and I am a huge fan of the uniform appearance.

Not only is it great for your mind, but I feel you attract more of the things you are hoping for when you make room for them. If you have any great suggestions, I would love to know about them. In the meantime, I will be over here clearing out the clutter.

I remember when I was younger, I would try new things, even when I didn't know how it would turn out.  I would move to a different city; try a different job, and not once did I get anxious about my decisions.  Today, I am quite the opposite.  Every "T" needs to be crossed, and every "I" needs to be dotted.

I saw this quote, and realized I could be holding myself back.  I am acting in fear; which causes me to want to know every detail before I make a move, instead of knowing "God will work it out".  When I look back at my younger years, He always did.  Even when I made the wrong decision, He would turn it into the right one. Everything was always fixed, because I relied on Him, and not myself.  Strengthening my faith muscle, and knowing that I won't always know how things will end...is okay.  It is okay to put myself out there, and rely on Him for comfort.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6

Nourish: Prayer

Nourish: Prayer

Becoming what I believe...I need to take my beliefs higher, and really center myself around that.  Become even more connected to the Lord through prayer.

Prayer...is the way we develop our relationship with the Lord.  By not only speaking to him, but listening to His spirit within us.   It's like if you have a girlfriend you are always chatting with, and she comes to you with her problem; dumps all of her feelings, picks up her purse and says...okay thanks for listening; I have to go now.  How would that make you feel?  I am sure God feels the same way.  Taking the time to hear Him, and to pray about just that, if it is a struggle.

I am not the same person when I am not checking in with Him.   I feel lost and helpless.  My actions are off as well.  I can be mean, cranky and I won't show up for life.  However, when I am checking in and keeping Him first, I have clear direction.  For me, early in the morning is that special time with Him.  What about you; do you have a special time?

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

School is officially done, and summer break has begun.  I think the girls and I are gonna start it off right, and try to have a little fun this weekend.  One thing is for sure; we are going to do one of our dance routines in the livingroom.

Speaking of which; I think Sonnet James and Teiks make a perfect pair for Mommy fun.  Sonnet James play dresses are so cute, and look so cozy; and pair it with Teiks...I am sure it would be just right!

Whitney; the founder of Sonnet James says "She believes that with the right dress you can look great without letting your clothes get in the way of the next big adventure!" I couldn't agree more. Sometimes what we are wearing can confine us while we try to "let our hair down" and play. This is the time we should be as free as a bird. Try and have some fun this weekend, okay? :-)

Genuine Feature: Andrea V. Smoak of Life Branded

Well, I think that I have mentioned before that I have a Brand Strategist who created my banner above, and she is helping me with my personal brand as well. I asked her if I could do an interview with her, so that I could share her with you. I have decided to increase my sessions with her to get closer to my vision, as I feel she can help guide me in the right direction. Andrea is absolutely fabulous, and inspires me daily!

Your Business, Life Branded, has a phenomenal concept. Can you tell us more about what you do?

Sure, it’s my vision; or, should I say my passion and purpose to help others realize that for themselves. As an interior designer, I found myself completely overwhelmed; not just by the beauty of a place, but my clients and their choices. I found many of them worked in careers that weren’t represented in their lifestyle. I would conduct interviews, and found myself doing more of a personal analysis on how I could not only make a beautiful space, but also how this space could represent their authentic DNA.

Once, I had a client who was starting a new business, and of course they needed a logo, graphic package, etc. We would discuss how the interior space would support their Brand. It was a true disconnect. The next day I came back with a full proposal, which included a new store name, layout, logo, graphic package, store window ideas, as well as a full analysis of who the customer base should be and why. They were so impressed, they asked me; “how did I come up with this all in one night?” My response, simply it’s my passion. I continued on to explain that the business was not just a good idea; it is truly an extension of who you are.

If you dedicate time, money, and your entire being into an idea…it’s a part of you. If you research the most successful business today, the one thread is passion. Therefore, Life Branded is a branding boutique that helps people not just realize their dream, but puts it into action, then to paper and on to Brand reality.

What lead you in starting Life Branded?

My joy is in helping people realize their dream. I truly want people to understand the importance of their brand. Rather personal or in business; the intent is always to make a good impression. Wouldn’t it be nice if a person could walk away with a business card, walk in your home, or patronize your business, and without a question they identified it with you? That’s the importance of a good brand. I started Life Branded to assist new and current business owner, and individuals to simply have a great piece of passion and purpose.

Andrea, I have fallen in love with your blog; can you tell us what we can expect to see in your posts?

Thank you. We work really hard to find some of the best Life Brands around. The people we feature are really living through their passion. It’s a journey we love, and love to share with others. It’s our hope to inspire others with stories of people who are living through their purpose, passion, and Life Brand. We are inspired daily. We also want you to see how the entire package comes together, to support a consistent purpose.

We women often find ourselves trapped in unpleasant situations in life. Can you give us a little advice on how to break through our adversities?

Women tend to be very hard on themselves. It’s about the small things in life. I would tell women to listen and follow their inner voice, first. Second, “a person will tell you who they are the first time.” -Maya Angelou.

Set goals and don’t feel bad when you’re off schedule, it’s the end result that counts. Know your inner voice, that’s where your strength lies. Focus on happiness, not stress, and seek your purpose and live through your passions.

As far as women are concerned; who would be your greatest inspiration and why?

I would have to say my mom, it sounds typical I know. As an only child, she invested everything she had in me. My strength is her strength. She taught me everything I know. I’m her reward in life.

You are a very stylish women; what are some of your favorite stores?

Thank you, I appreciate the compliment. To be honest with you, I don’t have a particular store that comes to mind. As part of your Life Brand, you should know the correct style for…you. I can honestly say, the success of my style is not only tied to my Brand, but simply knowing what looks good on me.

What does your inner rhythm sound like?

Wow, good question! The sound is of a sweet beautiful breeze passing your ear; the whisper of earth and nature at its best.
